Bigwig

Banda Hardcore-punk muy rapidos en cuanto a sus estilo, a pesar de ser una banda melodica tiene mucha presencia de juegos en sus instrumentos, sus influencias van desde los clasicos grupos de hardcore tardio norteamericano (NOFX, Descendents,etc) hasta grupos de metal. Formados en New Jersey en 1995, al poco tiempo lanzan un 7" llamado Bigwig 7", dos años mas tarde fueron fichados por Jim Cherry que les propuso lanzar su primer disco UnMerry Melodies, con lo cual logran notable popularidad en la escena underground que se ve reflejada en sus apariciones en Warped Tour o codeandose con bandas como Pennywise, H2O, Strung Out, etc.
Luego de unos cambios internos en la banda aparece su segundo disco "Stay Asleep" , y siguiendo con la idea de participar en hartos compilatorios.
Lo siguiente es la realizacion de sus dos mejores discos, primero aparece " Invitation to tragedy", que para esa epoca ellos mismos consideraban su mejor disco y quecontenia lo que querian expresar.
Luego el guitarrista y el baterista deciden dejar la banda, por lo que se consiguio nuevos miembros que solo duraron durante una gira europea.
La banda seguia con problemas de formacion, pero para 2005 lanzaron "Reclamation" que en la actualidad es su ultimo disco, desde entonces no se sabe nada de la banda.

Hey Merecedes fue una banda de Post-Harcore, Indie formada en Wisconsin. La banda se formo entre el año 1999 y 2000 despues de la desaparicion de Braid banda emo, Post - Hardcore de los 90's. El primer lanzamiento de la banda fue el EP homonimo en Polyvinil Recordscon lo cual daria un cambio mas alternativo y mas melodico a comparacion de lo que hacian con Braid, poco despues de este primer material fueron firmados por el sello Vagrant. El debut "Everynight Fire Works" es el disco definitivo con lo cual dejaron atras el sonido emo de los 90's y sin duda este seria uno de esos discos que ayudaron con la evolucion emo junto a bandas como The Juliana Theory, Thrusday. en el 2003 sacarian "loses Control" donde darian un giro hacia un sonido indie y seria el disco mas reconocido de su carrera, aunque para mi el mejor disco es su debut. se separan para el 2005 dejando el EP "Unorchestrated".

Senses Fail

Banda Post-Hardcore de Nueva Jersey, ciudad considerada como una de las capitales del emo, la formacion de la banda tuvo lugar en medio de un anucio que publicó el vocalista de la banda por alla en el 2002, con lo que grabaron el demo de "From the Depths of Dreams", donde se encuntran las canciones mas desgarradoras de la banda, pero lamentablemente no obtuvo la aceptacion de parte de las dicograficas, hasta que el sello de thrusday los recluto para sacar su primer EP "From the Depths of Dreams" regrabado en una version mas formal, este disco marco un hito y que desatarian lo que llamarian "el movimiento screamo comercial", junto a bandas Finch, The Used... para el 2004 llego una propuesta de Vagrant records para que grabasen su album debut "Let It Enfold You", en este album se nota en cambio al sonido alternativo, este tambien es muy melodico comparado con el anterior, pero luego llegaria el alabado album "Still Searching" donde se oye atmosferas cargadas de guitarras al estilo post-punk y se observa la influencia de From Autumn to Ashes y Midtown; banda de donde el nuevo intergrante provenia. Para este año nos trae un nuevo material que sin duda va a dejar mucho de que hablar en mi opinion esta mucho mas melodico y mejor que el "Still Searching".

The Melvins

Banda grunge y sludge metal de seattle, formado por Buzz Osbourne, Matt Lukin y Dale Crover alrededor de 1983 y que se mantienen hasta ahora. En sus comienzos tocaban un Post-Hardcore agresivo que poco a poco fueron amoldandolo con el metal llegando a un sonido mas cerca al sludge metal, pero fue el sonido de su segundo disco "Gluey Porch Treatments" sirvio de influencia directa para la nueva generacion de bandas de seattle entre ellas Nirvana, Alice In Chains y Mudhoney (banda de Matt Lukin luego de que dejara a los Melvins), luego de varios EPs y experimentacion en el sonido, publicarian "Houdini" que fue un clasico instantaneo y el disco mas digerible de su discografia, The Melvins tuvieron una estrecha relacion con Nirvana y sabemos que Dale Crover fue el quien pudo reunir a Cobain y Novoselic para grabar el "Fecal Matter" y fue ahi donde Cobain alentaria a Novoselic a crear una banda, pero eso es otra historia. Lo que he subido es una mitica grabacion en vivo, donde Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic y Buzz Osbourne hacen una improvisacion.

New York Rel-X

Banda de Punk rock formado por dos mujeres y dos hombres, siendo la voz la femenina, basicamente un punk rock como el que se hacian en los 80's con un sonido muy pegajoso y temas muy variados. Entre sus influencias estan las clasicas bandas de punk rock femenino como Vice Squad, The Avengers, Souxsie y otras bandas como Violators.
Comenzaron llamandose The Relix en el 2000, cambiando su nombre al poco tiempo, a New York Rel-X, que no tiene significado particular.
Lanzan dos ep que despues son juntados para sacar su primer disco: "She's got a gun/Paranoia", y luego su segundo disco mucho mejor que el anterior "sold out of love" (aunque excede en canciones de amor).
